MOVE

MOVE is a national charity working with severely disabled children in a Programme designed to increase their mobility and therefore their independence.

MOVE combines therapy and education in a programme which helps children work towards goals that they really want to achieve, which can range from learning to hold their head up by themselves to learning the skills needed to play football with their friends using a pacer. MOVE is unique in that no child is too disabled to use it and works with the child’s parents, teachers and therapists to teach them skills which are then practised in everyday life, enabling parents to be involved in key decision making and instrumental in their child’s development.

Visit our website or call us on 020 7407 5344 to find out more information, speak to a specialist or a parent of a child already on the programme or to visit a school using MOVE.

family friendly cottage holidays

Nettlecombe Farm has been in the Morris family for over a century, and you'll still meet us around the farm today. In the heart of the rolling Isle of Wight countryside, our farm is at the top of a quiet lane half a mile from the sleepy village of Whitwell. Surrounded by green fields and lakes, our luxurious child friendly self-catering holiday accommodation on the Isle of Wight is not only safe and comfortable for visitors of all ages and abilities, it's also the perfect base to explore the farm with its friendly animals - or the Islands wider countryside and scenic coastline.

Visitors are welcome to explore the farm and meet the animals, and there's plenty of fun to be had at any time of the year. In the Rickyard there is a wide variety of livestock to make friends with - usually chickens, geese, turkeys, pigs, goats, rabbits and even our reindeer ‘Comet & Dancer’. In springtime orphan lambs sometimes need feeding with milk, which can be messy but is always popular! When the kids need to let off steam there is a range of grassed play areas, toddlers play equipment, a big Wendy house, our fabulous wooden tractor and a rustic climbing play facility. For the older children there is a sports area ideal for all sorts of games and football. Our three fully-stocked fishing lakes and of course the farm and nearby countryside is full of places to explore, walk and cycle, and Nettlecombe is a dog-friendly farm too. You might be tempted to enjoy some relaxing yoga at one of our sessions in the modern function barn.

Our beautiful rural setting is quiet and secluded, but it's easy to use the farm as a base to explore the beautiful island that is our home. Explore Queen Victoria's country retreat at Osborne House, see where King Charles I was imprisoned at Carisbrooke Castle, or just marvel at the spectacular Needles. Beaches are especially easy to reach from Nettlecombe Farm, from the dramatic shoreline at Compton to the miles of golden sands and seaside amusements at Sandown and Shanklin.

We think you will love this part of the Isle of Wight as much as we do. The passing of the seasons and the changing landscape make Nettlecombe Farm worth visiting at any time of year and we are happy to offer short breaks for out of season guests visiting between October & May.
