Parents of younger children will love Glynn Barton Holiday Cottages in Cornwall!
Having a young family can be stressful and exhausting at times, however when it comes to booking a holiday, families with toddlers and babies definitely get the better deal!
When the older kids are at school, parents of pre-school age children can take advantage of cheaper prices and quieter roads and beaches. Cornwall is one place where this is very true. An excellent toddler friendly destination, there’s no airports and flights to negotiate, no worries about foreign food issues (because we all know how fussy small children can be) and no need to spend most of the day trying to keep the little ones in the shade. In fact, it’s the perfect destination for under 5s!
There’s plenty of accommodation to choose from but we came across one in particular which is really well equipped for dealing with small children; Glynn Barton Holiday Cottages.
Located in a beautiful woodland setting and surrounded by countryside, Glynn Barton is a hidden gem. There’s eight beautiful cottages in total, each oozing charm and well-equipped for families; with essentials such as cots, stair gates, plastic cutlery, bed guards and highchairs all included in the price.
Each luxury cottage is individually designed, with features such as high-beamed ceilings, stable doors and large character windows combining with elegant interiors and snug sofas to create a stylishly relaxed atmosphere.
The owners, Steve and Shirley share the 13 acres of child-friendly land with a whole host of friendly farm animals: cows, pigs, donkeys, sheep and chickens. Children are welcome to join them on their morning rounds hand feeding the animals and collecting the eggs – the highlight of many a child’s stay!
There’s also an indoor swimming pool, soft play barn, toddler ride-on area, mini playground as well as a huge selection of toys, games and videos in the Games Room to keep the little ones entertained for hours.
Parents will feel relaxed here too; there’s a mid-week maid service and a small shop stocked with local, seasonal food and delicious home-made meals. Glynn Barton offer a babysitting service if you wish to escape for an evening out, or perhaps a soothing massage.
With so many facilities onsite, you would be forgiven for never setting outside of the grounds, however, if you did wish to explore the nearby beaches and attractions you certainly won’t be disappointed.
The countryside surrounding Glynn Barton Holiday Cottages is rich in wildlife and there are several excellent cycle trails nearby. Cardinham Woods offers miles of forest trails, and the terrain is perfect for buggies and bike riding.
Ideally located near both the north and south coastline, Glynn Barton is also within easy reach of many beautiful beaches. The rock pools and glorious soft sands at Daymer Bay and Polzeath are a fond favourite on the north coast, with the south coast offering pretty coastal villages and hidden coves aplenty.
On wet days there’s a variety of attractions to choose from, including the Eden Project, Blue Reef Aquarium, Bodmin and Wenford Railway, Water World, Tate Gallery, Dairyland Farmworld and the National Maritime Museum to name but a few.
May, June, Early July, September and October are fantastic times to visit Glynn Barton Holiday Cottages. Temperatures are perfect for small children, the beaches are much quieter and the warm Atlantic breeze allows for a slightly longer season in Cornwall.
Glynn Barton offers seven night stays, with short breaks available in November – March. Prices in a luxurious two bedroom cottage in April start from as little as £27.50 per person per night.
To make travelling with little ones even easier, Glynn Barton does not charge extra for essentials such as cots and high chairs. The use of the Swimming Pool and Soft-Play Barn are all included and feeding the friendly animals with the owners, Steve and Shirley, is an added bonus.
