The Council for Disabled Children (CDC) is the umbrella body for the disabled children’s sector in England, with links to the other UK nations.

We are not resourced to provide advice or support directly to families with disabled children or children with SEN. We signpost families on to relevant organisations. The National Cycle Network is 5000 miles of safe, signed, attractive cycle routes, open and mapped in June 2000. It is made up of traffic-free sections and traffic-calmed road and minor roads, running right through urban centres and reaching all parts of the UK.

MOVE is a national charity working with severely disabled children in a Programme designed to increase their mobility and therefore their independence.

MOVE combines therapy and education in a programme which helps children work towards goals that they really want to achieve, which can range from learning to hold their head up by themselves to learning the skills needed to play football with their friends using a pacer. MOVE is unique in that no child is too disabled to use it and works with the child’s parents, teachers and therapists to teach them skills which are then practised in everyday life, enabling parents to be involved in key decision making and instrumental in their child’s development.

Warren Farm Holiday Centre at Brean Sands is family run, close to the beach, and is an easily accessible child friendly holiday destination set on the Somerset Levels, in the South West.

There are very good washroom and shower buildings including private disabled and wash room facilities, fully equipped launderettes and chemical disposal points. Pitches are spacious and many enjoy panoramic views of the Mendip Hills and Brean Down. Isis Park has a Rose Award and is exclusive and quiet, accommodating family groups up to six persons. The elevated park set on sand dunes has its own access to the five miles of beach facing Bridgwater Bay.

The Beachcomber Inn, bar and restaurant, offers a wide range of wholesome food and lively entertainment, with children’s activities in main season.

Extensive marked, farm walks surround us and our fishing lakes are stocked with a wide variety of course fish.

At Stagecoach Performing Arts we teach children and young people how to sing, dance and act, not only to perform on stage but also, more importantly, to build confidence and key skills that will benefit them through their whole lives.

Our classes are for ages 4-18 with some schools offering classes for ages 2+. With over 35 years’ experience in teaching the performing arts and having helped over one million students to reach their full potential, we’d love to welcome your child to our classes.

SwimStars offers swimming classes throughout Wiltshire for boys and girls aged from 3 years. Our group lessons have no more than 4 children ensuring that each child gets lots of individual attention and can progress at their own pace.

Run by a fully qualified instructor, all lessons operate to the highest standard and run in line with the National Plan for Teaching Swimming. We aim to teach swimming through fun and play so children love learning to swim! All lessons are held in privately owned pools that offer a warm and safe environment. Because we feel it is important that all children feel a real sense of achievement, badges are regularly awarded for every stage completed.

The Mendip Riding School is set within 130 acres of rolling hills and woodland, the riding centre is truly an equestrians delight. It is BHS approved, we offer lessons for both adults and children. Our pony days give younger riders the chance to ride and learn to care for the pony.
