We love all camping - well, maybe not the creepy crawlies, the leaky tents, or the lack of basic facilities - but we do love being outdoors, soaking up the sunshine, and spending time having fun with our families. That’s why we at Alpine Elements have opened Club Mayotte, our five-star lakeside campsite in the south west of France.
We’ve been offering active holidays in the French Alps and beach and sailing holidays in Greece for over 20 years so we’re more than delighted to be able to bring our expertise to the lakes.
Club Mayotte is located on the shores of Lake Sanguinet in Biscarrosse near Bordeaux. It offers a fantastic range of top notch, all-inclusive water sports and activities as well as fantastic glamping style accommodation to boot.
The kids are going to love this family-friendly Club. It boasts an impressive water park with four outdoor pools, one indoor pool, slides, chutes and whirlpools. There’s also an on-site adventure park complete with with rope swings, aerial runways and heaps of treetop fun.
The Club’s private beach provides a safe haven for children to play and paddle in the warm waters (average water temperatures of around 26 to 28° - nice). The kids can also learn to sail in calm conditions at our kids’ sailing club on our kid-friendly catamarans, or Catsys as we like to call them!
Our kids’ clubs are open daily, giving grown-ups some well deserved time off. We run four separate kids’ clubs from our baby club through to our teenage club.
Lake Sanguinet is a naturally formed fresh-water lake and one of the largest in France. It leads out on to the Bay of Biscay and is the perfect playground for water sports enthusiasts and novices alike. You can try out stand-up paddle boarding or kayaking (no need to hire a board or kayak as these are included with your booking!), water skiing, wake-boarding, kite-surfing, dinghy and catamaran sailing. And don’t forget to check out the surf at beautiful Biscarrosse Plage just a couple of kilometres away.
And when you’re not splashing about on the water but still feeling energetic, why not grab your mountain bike and head out (there are four bikes are included with your booking - we think of everything!). Many of the routes near the Club are flat and easy-to-ride but you can quickly head off into the hills to explore the surrounding area. Our guided bike tours are a great way to see the area, your guide will show you the best routes, the best views, and the best beaches!
The lake itself is surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches which are all linked by easy-to-cycle paths that wend their way through pine forests and coastline. You can cycle to the fantastic Aquapark in less than 20 mins and be at the famous Biscarosse Plage in around 35 minutes. The spectacular Dunes of Pyla are also close by.
To top it off there’s even an on-site wellness centre complete with a sauna, jacuzzi, gym, yoga and aqua fitness classes. Alternatively you could just take advantage of the peace and quiet, the glorious temperatures (around 28 to 36° with a pleasant breeze), and hit the beach with a good book.
We open just in time for May half-term when the weather and the water temperature is already deliciously warm. On arrival at Club Mayotte we provide a welcome pack filled with everyday essentials but there are a variety of on-site bars and cafes to choose from as well as a well-stocked grocery store, a butchers and bakery.
Our mobile home-style accommodation offers the best of both worlds. The joy of outdoor living with all your home comforts on tap. The mobile homes accommodate 4 to 6 people (our two-bed home) or 6 to 8 people (our three-bed home) and each has its own covered deck area with outside seating and dining area. Each home has a fully equipped kitchen, a double bedroom and twin bedroom(s), a shower room and loo. You can book for 7 or 14 nights.
