Bivouac Swinton is a sustainable and ethical holiday destination with parking, café and accommodation facilities for families. The site is on the Swinton Estate in the Yorkshire Dales, five miles from Masham, and situated on the moor edge beside the Druid’s Temple (constructed as a folly in the 1800’s) and woodland.
Facilities for families include accommodation ranging from a camping barn with family shower facilities (sleeping twelve) to luxury yurts (each sleeping up to five) and hand built woodland shacks (each sleeping up to seven). Whilst the experience is essentially rustic, creature comforts and luxuries such as quality linen, heating and a hot tub are all part of the package.
Set in 15 acres of fields, with the camping barn and yurt site adjacent to the farmhouse and the woodland shacks nestled into the trees nearby, the Bivouac Swinton site offers families an idyllic setting in which to roam and explore the big outdoors. Facilities include a family shower and toilet facilities, and a dedicated family room within the cafe, leading out to a child friendly garden.
Activities available for families at Bivouac (either on site or on the surrounding Estate) include bike hire, walking, geocache trails and orienteering, climbing, riding and falconry. Organised events include Forest School days, Foraging for wild edible food and Family Cinema nights. Further afield there are Yorkshire castles, abbeys and stately homes to explore such as Bolton Castle, Fountains Abbey and Newby Hall.
